There is more to Jesus than meets the eye. One memorable day, the writer Mark tells us, the disciples ‘were terrified and asked each other “Who is this?”‘ The Jesus the Bible presents is not the rather wishy washy character often portrayed in popular films and books. He is a true man.
No serious historian doubts the reality that the person known as Jesus of Nazareth really lived. The Bible tells us he ‘went about doing good’. But he is so much more than simply a great example for us to follow. He said ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.’ He came to give life to the downtrodden and marginalised.
But most amazing of all are the claims he made about himself. He did things that only God could do. Who, really, is this man?
